If the results of the 2013-14 season are any indicator, D’Antoni will soon be out of a job. Unfortunately, rumors around the NBA are conflicting regarding his future with the team. Some say he’s on his way out, while others indicate that there’s a chance the Lakers keep him around for one more season. One of the biggest names set to be a free agent this summer, Deng will certainly be a hot commodity. With the Lakers looking to make significant upgrades, they could be interested in signing the small forward. Not only would he upgrade their defense, but could also offer the Lakers another scoring option on the other end of the court. USA Today’s Sam Amick says it’s “definitely” a possibility.

Well if whispers around the NBA are true, the Lakers could have a slight interest in re-signing him.

Former Kentucky player Rex Chapman tweeted shortly before the 2014 NCAA Championship game that UK head coach John Calipari basically had a deal in place to be the new head coach of the Lakers. After losing to UConn in that game, though, Calipari denied the report, saying he wouldn’t “dignify” the allegations with a response. The Lakers have also denied it, but that doesn’t mean something isn’t happening behind closed doors.
