The Brooklyn Nets will enter the postseason as either the fifth or sixth seed. The Nets have had an up-and-down season, but they've rebounded from a poor start to the season. Since the beginning of the 2014 calendar year, the Nets are 34-15.
What are the five biggest rumors as the Nets enter the postseason?
It has been a rough season for Kevin Garnett, who is about to complete his 19th season in the NBA. Garnett missed 19 games before recently returning to court action on Apr. 5. Though he is a former NBA MVP and NBA Champion, he is averaging less than seven points and seven boards per game, and he will be more motivated than ever this postseason.
This is the reason why the Nets brought Garnett and Pail Pierce to Brooklyn this season, so these two guys could take this team deep into the playoffs. Both guys are battle tested, having played six seasons with the Boston Celtics, advancing to two NBA Finals together. The Nets aren't here to be eliminated in the first round again, they're playing to win a championship this year.
As mentioned before, the Nets have played extremely well over the past several months after a rough start to the season; they've arguably been the best Eastern Conference team since January. Though everyone is paying attention to the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat for another Eastern Conference Finals matchup, don't be surprised if the Nets sneak into the East Finals.
Paul Pierce is 36 years old, while Kevin Garnett will turn 38 in May. Pierce is an unrestricted free agent this year, while Garnett has one year left on his contract. With Garnett struggling through a back injury, and Pierce returning to the Nets a major question mark, expect this to be the duo's last ride in the postseason together.
Again, everybody is paying attention to the Indiana Pacers as the Miami Heat's biggest rival in the East, but it will be the Nets who pose the biggest threat to the Heat's crown in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Nets defeated the Heat in all four games played this season, and have a veteran supporting cast featuring the likes of Garnett, Pierce, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, who are as battle-tested as they come.
