Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets

I am sure not many people predicted this coming into the season, but the Brooklyn Nets are the No. 6 seed in the East and the Toronto Raptors are the No. 3 seed. The Nets spent a bunch of money over the offseason to try and win a title right away. With that said, either team could win this series.

In years past, Deron Williams would easily get the nod, but those injury things can do some serious damage. Plus, Kyle Lowry is having a great season. Regardless, this could be one of the most important matchups of the series.

SG Matchup: Terrence Ross vs. Shaun Livingston

Terrence Ross is having a good season in his second year in the NBA. He can certainly drop 20+ points on any given night.

Livingston’s stats may not be the best in the world, but he is a very important player on Brooklyn. He could very well be the Nets' most important player. That is saying a lot when you look at their roster.

SF Matchup: DeMar DeRozan vs. Joe Johnson

DeMar DeRozan sure is having a good year. He is averaging 22.8 points per game and is a big reason why the Raptors are so good.

Joe Johnson has been in the league for quite some time now, but he is still a productive player on the offensive side of the ball (15.8 points per game). Both will have to come up big for their team.

PF Matchup: Amir Johnson vs. Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce was brought to Brooklyn so the Nets could win a championship. He has a bunch of experience and I like him in this matchup because of that. Regardless, Amir Johnson has been a very reliable starter for Toronto this season.

C Matchup: Jonas Valanciunas vs. Mason Plumlee

Jonas Valanciunas may have the better season averages, but Mason Plumlee has been pretty hot as of late. Before his eight-point performance against Cleveland to close out the season, Plumlee put up 16 or more points in his last four games.

Brooklyn’s bench has been a strength all season long. Jason Kidd has rotated quite a bit of players and that should really benefit the team in the playoffs. As for Toronto, players like Patrick Patterson will have to log some solid minutes if the Raptors want to advance to the next round.

Jason Kidd clearly doesn’t have a lot of coaching experience -- played in the NBA last year. However, neither coach has coached in the playoffs. Well, until this season.

Regular Season Series: Toronto 2, Brooklyn 2

Brooklyn has a bunch of experience on its team and it brought in guys like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to win a title now. You have to remember that the Raptors are the No. 3 seed, though.
