Adam Silver Shows Serious Force By Banning Donald Sterling from Clippers For Life
Wow. I honestly thought the NBA was going to wimp out on this one, and I have to say that I am seriously impressed with Adam Silver’s first big test as the commissioner of the league.
I thought that it would just be a hefty fine and then a suspension from the team for the year, but Silver did himself quite a bit of justice with the recent decision to ban Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the league for life.
All that being said, I would expect a lawsuit to come from Sterling. This is a stubborn man, and he has shown it with his history of behavior. This is going to be a long fight, but it is one that I am glad that Silver is taking.
If anyone still thinks this is about basketball, then they are absolutely crazy. This was the appropriate action from Silver, and I am glad that pro basketball now has a commissioner who is willing to fight this. Former commissioner David Stern could not say as much, and it will be super interesting to see how this shakes out in the next couple months.
This has been a speedy process for the league, and I admire Silver for taking swift and decisive action. Kudos to the league, and you can bet that Rant Sports will be covering all aspects of this in the coming days. Thanks for stopping by, and hopefully in the future we can thrill you with more positive news.
