The 2014 NBA Playoffs have been filled with great action on the court and even more real-life drama off of it. The Donald Sterling situation has taken the league by storm, but ultimately it looks like positive things (him being kicked out) will come out of his negative comments.
Another real-life story to follow involves NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager. It was recently revealed that the long time reporter is battling leukemia and that he’ll be forced to miss the entire playoffs this season. It’s a shame, because Sager is no doubt a big part of the production. When you think TNT basketball, Sages is one of the first people who comes to mind.
Another name synonymous with the NBA on TNT is of course Ernie Johnson. The studio host recently paid a visit to Sager in the hospital and then posted this inspirational photo on Twitter:

It’s worth noting that Johnson is also a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma back in 2003 and eventually had to seek treatment in 2006.
Both guys are great at what they do and it’s just not the same on TNT without them both on air. Sages can be a little rough with his sideline questions at times, but you have to give him credit for always asking the tough questions.
Hopefully we’ll one day be able to add Sager to the ever-growing list of cancer survivors in this world.
