PG Kendall Marshall is part of the select few Los Angeles Lakers who is under contract for next season, and he tweeted out a hilarious story recently regarding his experience at a Los Angeles Jersey Mikes sandwich shop. Apparently, the employee who was preparing Marshall’s sandwich did not recognize him at all. The employee just figured Marshall was an everyday Lakers fan looking to grab a bite to eat, very casually asking Marshall if he was a fan.
Of course, nobody expects to see a member of the Lakers in the general public every day, but to not realize Marshall is actually on the team is a bit insulting. What he intended to be a simple lunch turned out to be a complete reflection on how forgettable a season Los Angeles had this year.
Let’s not forget, Los Angeles is known as being a Lakers town and has the history to back it up. Los Angeles citizens are supposed to be maniacs about their Lakers, and it was obviously not the case here.
Looking back on Marshall’s story now, I’m sure whomever the employee was has come to the realization that they missed possibly the only opportunity they had at meeting Marshall, in addition to missing out on a generous tip. No matter how many times athletes appear to attempt to remain incognito, being picked out in a public setting must be a great feeling.
Hopefully the next fast food place Marshall dines at shows the point guard some true Lakers love.
