Losing brings out the worst in teams. For an example of this, look no further than the 2013-14 Indiana Pacers.
After cruising through the majority of the regular season this year, the Pacers hit a late-season skid for the ages. Now after barely escaping the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs, their backs are once again up against the wall in round two.
But you know things are getting bad when ‘players sleeping with other players’ girlfriends’ rumors have started. That’s exactly the case right now ‘between’ Roy Hibbert and Paul George.
The shooting guard has been accused of sleeping with Hibbert’s girlfriend, which some believe explains the center’s poor play as of late. Sound crazy? Yes it does. Not only does it sound crazy to many basketball fans, it also sounds crazy to George.
Here’s what PG posted on Instagram in response to the rumors about Hibbert’s girlfriend:
“These rumors have got to stop! Its gettin old now and all you that believe them are ignorant! #Brothers”
The post was accompanied by a photo of George and Hibbert fishing together.
So there you have it — a girl is not to blame for the Pacers’ struggles. As for what is causing the team’s troubles, Frank Vogel would sure like to have that answer. He’s still likely coaching for his job because anything short of the ECF will be a major failure for this Indiana team.
Remember when everyone had Pacers vs. Heat penciled in for the ECF back in February?
