The Portland Trail Blazers look like they are finished, but we all know how quickly the storyline can flip. People forget that the Oklahoma City Thunder were down 2-0 to the San Antonio Spurs in 2012, and then they ended up rolling off four wins in a row. I do not see that happening for the Blazers, but they could still make this an interesting series.
The shot he hit against the Houston Rockets was big time, and we should expect a lot more from Lillard in the future. His defensive ineptitudes have been on full display against the Spurs, but hopefully that part of his game will come with time.
That midrange jumpshot gave Dwight Howard fits in the last round, and if they want to even up this series then Aldridge will be the key player to making that happen. He could end up being the best power forward of his generation to not win a title, but Kevin Love is also in the running for that one.
Neil Olshey helped to build the Los Angeles Clippers into a contender, and I bet now that he is glad that he got out when he did. He has done the same thing with Portland, and he could make even more moves this summer.
The Spurs have got the number of quite a few teams in the league, and the Blazers are no exception. We will have to see if the Blazers can keep from going down 3-0 when they get ready to tip off game 3.
I cannot quite put my finger on it, but they are at least one element away from being a true contender. Their bench needs to improve to be sure, and it should be fun to watch if they make a move for any other superstars this summer.
