The Sacramento Kings were not fortunate enough to make the playoffs this season, but there are still some rumors swirling around them. This list has a little bit to do with the roster, but also with their ownership group. Here are the five rumors that pop out to me at the moment.
Shaq is now a minority owner of the team, which is a bit odd because he once called them the Sacramento Queens. Oh you forgot about that. Whoops.
Cousins will obviously be the franchise moving forward into next year, but the wisdom of that must be questioned at some level. I love Boogie's talent, but I'm not as sure about his court demeanor. He needs to learn how to control his emotions while still using them to fuel his intensity.
Sorry to harp on this, but it is the key to their future. Their new owner was kind enough to give Boogie the big extension before the young man had truly earned it with his play. We will have to see if Cousins rewards their faith.
They might be a little bit jealous about all the bad publicity that the Los Angeles Clippers are getting lately, but the Kings should get back into that mix next season. Just kidding obviously.
For a time, it seemed like the Kings would be moving to Seattle, but no more. After the new arena deal, they should stay in CA for quite a long time. I happen to love their new owner, and I was glad to see that he was one of the first ones to speak out publicly about Donald Sterling.
