The Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat are now both one win away from advancing in their respective series. The Pacers are scheduled to play tonight at home while the Heat play tomorrow night in South Beach. When this season started everyone had a Pacers – Heat conference finals rematch set, but after the struggles down the stretch, many thought the Pacers would not be able to get that far.

When round two started many Pacers fans, including myself, were rooting for the Brooklyn Nets to upset the Heat. However, although I could never find myself cheering for Miami, it would not be the same getting to the NBA finals and not having to go through LeBron James and the Heat.

The saying goes if you want to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best; the Heat are back-to-back NBA champions, so as of now they are the best. The regular season series between the two was split 2-2 with both teams winning the games on their home courts. We all now the rivalry that has brewed over the last few seasons, and we could only be a short few days away from another showdown.

James is of course the best basketball player in the world, but you cannot expect him to put 49 points every night to carry his team like he did last night against the Nets. The Pacers will need Roy Hibbert to be the defensive force he has shown the last few days, especially the one that showed up for the playoff series against the Heat last season. As excited as all of this is to talk about, first thing is first; the Pacers need to put the Washington Wizards away. Tonight that is done as the Pacers take care of business at home by winning big.
