Ricky Rubio Questions If Kevin Love Is a Leader; PF Must Be Traded

Ricky Rubio

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Many Minnesota Timberwolves fans knew this day was coming. You know, the day when the Kevin Love ‘staying or leaving’ situation really started to gain some steam. With just one year left on his current contract and rumors of him wanting out of town — many are predicting Love’s tenure in Minnesota will end shortly after the season does.

For some proverbial fuel to the fire, check out this quote from Ricky Rubio. Love’s teammate actually called out his leadership ability in recent interview with basketballamericano.com:

“He is a special player, his numbers are unbelievable but maybe our leader must be other player. He is our leader in points and another things but he can’t be or he doesn’t want to be our ‘voice’ leader. Perhaps he shouldn’t have been our leader, perhaps Kevin Martin could have been our leader because he had more experience, perhaps I could take a step ahead to be the definitive leader.”

It’s hard to see Love staying in Minnesota with all the rest of the rumors you hear, but after reading that quote from Rubio, it’s really hard to imagine him wearing a Timberwolves uniform next season.

As much as fans will hate it, there’s really no other move besides trading the power forward at this point if the rumors are true. It’s either that, or let him walk away next year in free agency. Unless the T-Wolves think they have a title run in them in 2015, keeping Love just doesn’t add up.

Kyrie Irving Crosses Tayshaun Prince

It's great to see Kyrie Irving back healthy and playing at an elite level once again. This evening against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Irving put veteran SF Tayshaun Prince on skates with this devastating crossover, and followed the amazing move by nailing the three like a boss. People have said some crazy things about the Cleveland Cavaliers since they were ransacked by the Golden State Warriors at home recently, but don't be surprised when they're looking like they have a shot to win a ring by the end of the season.
