The Milwaukee Bucks finished last in the NBA standings this season. That 15-67 record was supposed to be good enough (or bad depending on how you look at it) to earn the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Well, those NBA Lottery pingpong balls certainly have a mind of their own because Milwaukee will be picking No. 2, Cleveland No. 1. Don’t feel too bad for the Bucks, though.
If Cleveland drafts Andrew Wiggins, the Bucks will have to “settle” with Jabari Parker or Joel Embiid. Those are still two of the most talented players we have seen in the draft in a long time. Not to mention, Parker is the most NBA-ready prospect.
Being first on the clock is what tanking is all about. Well, the Bucks tanked hard, but luck was just not on their side. Luckily, the top three players in the draft are pretty interchangeable — Embiid, Parker and Wiggins all have a chance at going No. 1.
If Wiggins turns out to be the next best player the game has ever seen, then that sucks. Still, I don’t think Parker is going to be too far behind him and Embiid seriously has the talent to be a star. There is also a chance that the Cavs go with Parker, or Embiid. Whether the case, who knows which player will have the most successful career. Literally no one does.
Milwaukee’s horrible season should have earned them the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, but it didn’t. The Bucks will be fine, though, and no one should feel bad for them. Not even their fans.
