Believe it or not, Donald Sterling is playing ball when it comes to the sale of the Clippers. He's reportedly going to allow his wife to negotiate a deal for the team he's owned for over 30 years. This process is going down much sooner than anticipated, which will re-open talks as to who the next owner will be.
Here's a look at six celebrities in the running to be the next Clippers owner:
Money is rumored to be interested in buying the Clips, which make for an interesting situation. He's got the cash, but it's hard to see him going through with it while he's still boxing.
Ming is reportedly getting a group of Chinese businessmen together to try and make run at the Clippers. Obviously, Ming himself doesn't have enough cash laying around to be the majority owner, but it would be cool to see him involved.
Oprah an NBA owner? It seems a little bit odd on the surface, but not really when you get down to it. She's loaded and always looking for a new business venture.
P Diddy is a Knicks fan, but he's acknowledged that he's a businessman first. He's also made no secret about wanting to buy a sports franchise. Mr. Combs is no doubt a realistic buyer.
The first billionaire in hip hop is L.A. through and through, and also a huge sports fan. He would do great things for the Clippers, just like he's done great things for everything else he's touched.
The Magic Man and his business partners have to be the front-runners for the Clips. They've got the funds and ties to basketball to make this deal go down. It would be weird to see Johnson associated with the Clippers instead of the Lakers, but business won't get in the way of his true feelings for L.A. basketball.
