When the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Ramon Sessions several years ago, they were hoping to add quickness and playmaking ability to the point guard position. Sessions played extremely well, giving the team a new dimension that they hadn’t had in years. He was a one-man fast break, capable of pushing the tempo and giving the team youthful legs. However, he struggled in the playoffs, and chose to pursue more money in the offseason.

Sessions has played well coming off the bench in recent years, but will likely be looking for more playing time next season. The Lakers offer the perfect opportunity, as there will be plenty of time available at the point guard position, even if Steve Nash decides to return. Sessions has proved that he can play next to Kobe Bryant, and would give the team a quality guard to rely on.

Sessions has very good speed and plays with great energy. He is a good ball-handler and is great at attacking the basket. He needs to improve his outside shooting, but did shoot well from distance when he was on the Lakers previously. The team needs a threat next to Bryant, and Sessions would be a good change of pace from Nash.

The Lakers would be smart to go after Sessions in the offseason. He has very good playmaking ability, but hasn’t been able to receive as much playing time as he would like. This lack of playing time likely means that he won’t be as expensive as other guards on the market, and the Lakers need to remain flexible financially for the future. He would be a good piece for the team moving forward, and give them an upgrade at an extremely important position.
