Boston Celtics Rumors: Kevin Love’s Visit Means Something
When Kevin Love was spotted in Boston over the weekend, everyone immediately had the same reaction: He’s checking things out to see if he wants to move there and play for the Boston Celtics. While Love may have one more year left on his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, that speculation is right on the money.
Upon learning of the buzz created by Love’s visit to Boston, Timberwolves president Flip Saunders naturally reminded everyone, “The last I knew Kevin was under contract with us, and I expect him to be playing for us next year.”
Well, Love will have to play for Minnesota in 2014, but Saunders has no control over where the star forward plays in 2015, and you can bet it won’t be in the Twin Cities.
Love hung out with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo over the weekend and garnered the attention of Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz after the two hoopsters took in a baseball game together at Fenway Park. Heck, Ortiz even pushed the envelope by offering Love some tips on where to live in Beantown on Twitter:

It’s telling that Love went ahead and made this trip a year early considering he could have done this in June of 2015 as a true free agent, because it’s safe to assume the T-Wolves won’t be playing in the NBA Finals next season at this time. Thus, it’s not outlandish to think Love might have made this trip after hearing from the Timberwolves’ brass that a trade with Boston this fall could be in the works.
Yes, we know Saunders gave his little spiel about Love staying in Minnesota, but Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce said they’d never leave Boston and look how that turned out.
So whether Love is traded this year or just signs in Boston next year, you can bet he’ll be wearing Celtic green by the start of the 2015 NBA season, if not sooner.
