The Boston Celtics made it no secret last offseason that they were on a full blown rebuild after trading away longtime defensive stalwart Kevin Garnett and longtime scoring ace Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets for some bench players, draft picks and cap space. Now that the Celtics are entering the second year of their rebuild, let's look at five ways the Celtics can improve their team in 2014-15.

Although the Celtics had one of the worst records in the NBA last season, Stevens did a wonderful job in guiding the young Celtics through the highs and lows -- mostly lows -- of the regular season, proving to the rest of the league that he can coach at the NBA level. It would be wise for the Celtics to continue to buy into Stevens' system.

4. Keep Jeff Green On the Track to Stardom

With Garnett and Pierce gone, Green became the focal point of the offense. And although he was on and off throughout the year, he did display that he is capable of carrying an offense and hitting big shots. Stevens' goal next year is to keep Green on the track to stardom, and that starts by being the best player on the floor on a nightly basis.

3. Give Kelly Olynyk a Bigger Role

Despite mispronouncing his name on a daily basis, Olynyk made me a believer that, if given major minutes, he can become a 15 and eight kind of center. But that is if Stevens increases his minutes, which he should next season.

2. Get Rid of Gerald Wallace

Wallace was essentially a throwaway in the deal that sent Garnett and Pierce to Brooklyn, and he played like a throwaway player in his first season in Boston. The Celtics will -- and should -- look to unload Wallace for anything they can obtain.

Rajon Rondo is still one of the top point guards in the game. But with the Celtics in a rebuilding situation, Rondo has made it clear that he wants to play for a contender. It would be wise to trade Rondo now for a player who can help them now instead of letting Rondo walk in 2015.
