Carmelo Anthony to the Chicago Bulls is a very real possibility during the 2014 NBA free agency period. The New York Knicks forward appears intent on opting out of his contract and testing the market. Here are 5 reasons why Anthony should take his talents to the Windy City and sign with the Bulls.

While there would be plenty of pressure to win in Chicago, for the first time in his career Anthony would not necessarily be his team's first and last offensive option in late-game scenarios. Derrick Rose is the primary ball handler for the Bulls, and this would allow Anthony to move towards the spot-up game that makes him so dominant on the U.S. Olympic team. He wouldn't have to work anywhere near as hard for points in Chicago.

Carmelo Anthony's weak point is his defense, but the Bulls would simply line up Jimmy Butler — their best perimeter defender — against the opposing team's best wing option, leaving Anthony to cover the less threatening player. Gone would be the days of guarding LeBron James and Kevin Durant as he very often did in New York; instead, Anthony would be freed up to expend more of his energy on the offensive end of the floor.

Tom Thibodeau tends to get everything possible out of his players, with Nate Robinson and D.J. Augustin being two recent examples. Thibodeau would undoubtedly find a way to maximize Anthony's offensive talents while minimizing his deficiencies on defense. Additionally, as has always been the case for Thibodeau-coached Bulls teams, Anthony would not be left wanting for more minutes.

2. Opportunity to Play With Derrick Rose

The chance to play alongside Derrick Rose is certainly inviting. Rose has healed up from a flukey meniscus tear and is primed to get back to his dominant ways. An offensive superstar like Anthony would only stand to benefit from all the attention Rose receives from opposing defenses.

A starting lineup of Rose, Butler, Anthony, Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah is absolutely scary at both ends of the court. Anthony instantly makes the Bulls a major championship contender; his offensive contributions added to Chicago's already fantastic defense combine to create a team with no discernible weakness.
