2014 NBA Mock Draft: Predicting the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Pick
Maybe God doesn’t hate Cleveland after all. Cleveland is the hotbed of sports right now as Johnny Manziel is bringing excitement back to the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Indians are playing good baseball right now, and the Cavaliers now has a do-over to their comical blunder in the 2013 NBA Draft, where Anthony Bennett may very well become the biggest first round bust in NBA History.
So now, with only one draft pick in this year’s draft, Cleveland needs to make it a good one, and there is the only player that should be on their radar:
No. 1 Pick: Joel Embiid, Kansas, Center, 7-0, 240 lbs, freshman
This is a no brainier for the Cavs. Cleveland needs a talented big man to pair up with Kyrie Irving, and Embiid has the skill set to become a franchise center. Embiid has a nice touch around the rim, can gobble up rebounds and can be an intimidating force around the basket.
As an added bonus, picking Embiid may also convince LeBron James to come back home to Northeast Ohio. With Irving able to take the scoring and ball handling load off of him, and Embiid able to dominate the paint, LeBron may have the best talent surrounding him to finally achieve his long-time dream of bringing a championship to Cleveland.
This should not even be debated, Embiid is the guy for the Cavs.
