After a lopsided series loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals, LeBron James has elected to opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat and test the waters of NBA free agency. Here's a look at five teams with which he should contemplate signing.

James has been linked to the purple and gold for years, including his free agency in 2010. There isn't much doubt that the Lakers would be able to surround him with talent simply by virtue of their financial resources, but it might take a year or two to make that happen.

There has been plenty of talk about Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh opting out and subsequently re-signing with the Miami Heat at a discount so that the team can acquire another star such as Carmelo Anthony. It isn't clear whether James is willing to go along with this, but Miami has been good to him in these last four seasons and returning would certainly not be a bad choice.

3. Dallas Mavericks

There's been next to no discussion of LeBron signing with the Dallas Mavericks, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't consider it. Dirk Nowitzki still has several years of high-level play left, and the combination of his shooting and James' driving would be unstoppable.

2. Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have always been an interesting fit for LeBron. Tom Thibodeau would briefly lose his mind with glee at being given a player with James' defensive talents to work with, and LeBron would solve the Bulls' offensive problems in one giant swoop. As with most of the teams on this list, James would need to sign at a discounted price.

The Houston Rockets would have a lot of maneuvering to do before they could make a realistic run at James, but the trio of LeBron, James Harden and Dwight Howard would be laughably dominant. LeBron has made clear his desire to chase more titles, and landing in Houston would give him a better 'Big Three' to work with than he had in Miami.
