Kevin Love Rumors: Denver Nuggets Compiling Strong Package For Trade
There have been a number of teams already around the NBA that have been scraping their roster and scrambling to try and build a package that would finally get the Minnesota Timberwolves to relinquish All-Star power forward Kevin Love. To this point, the Wolves have turned down everyone that they’ve been on the wire with.
However, there may be a new player in the sweepstakes for Love’s services. As the Boston Celtics reportedly couldn’t piece together an offer good enough to pry Love out of Minnesota, Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald reported that the Denver Nuggets have added themselves to the race.
According to Bulpett, the Nuggets are piecing together a relatively enticing offer to send to the Timberwolves’ way. In a potential trade, Denver would be willing to send Wilson Chandler, Kenneth Faried and another player—most likely Arron Afflalo—that they would acquire via another trade.
That particular deal with the Nuggets would certainly give the Wolves a lot that they should be looking for in a deal. They would get a young and talented power forward in Faried and would also address a major need by acquiring two dynamic perimeter scorers in Chandler and Afflalo. The addition of the two wings would also help defensively for Minnesota.
However, it seems unlikely that the Timberwolves would be willing to part with Love for that package. A big reason why is the fact that, also according to Bulpett, the Nuggets would not be including their 11th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft in the deal. It’s been made pretty clear that Minnesota would like to get talent and picks in a trade for Love, which is obviously not what they would be getting from Denver if the Nuggets don’t include their lottery pick.
Regardless of if their proposed deal would be enough to finally get the Timberwolves to pull the trigger on a trade, though, the Nuggets are yet another team that is making a run at one of the best power forwards in the league. If I had to venture a guess, they won’t be the last team to emerge from the woodwork with a package that they would be willing to send to Minny in order to acquire Love.
