5 Bold Predictions for the Indiana Pacers’ 2014 Offseason

5 Bold Predictions for the Indiana Pacers' 2014 Offseason

For the second straight year, Indiana had the opportunity to measure itself against the Miami Heat. This time around it took one less game to reach the same result. Maybe worse is that the team Indiana measured itself against got dismantled in the NBA Finals. Indiana will need a good offseason to not only get past Miami but to challenge whoever comes out of the West.

Most people were pretty excited when Indiana traded for Turner last season. Then, the team fell apart and a strangely large amount of blame went on Turner. He just never found a role with the Pacers. I can't imagine Turner would want to return to Indiana after seeing his numbers plummet after the trade.

While Evan Turner was stuck with all of the blame for ruining the chemistry, Danny Granger was sitting back and reaping the benefits. If Granger really meant that much to their chemistry, then Indiana should want to bring him back. Granger just opted out of his contract, making him an unrestricted free agent.

3. Indiana Doesn't Re-sign Lance Stephenson

It's easy to put up with Stephenson's antics when he only makes a million a year. If Indiana brings him back then it won't be as money friendly. Suddenly you have 30-40 million tied up in a player that annoys his own teammates. I think Indiana is happy they got two good years from him but will be even happier to let another team take him off their hands.

2. Sign Kyle Lowry

Indiana can't go into next season with George Hill as their starting point guard. Kyle Lowry is the best available point guard and has been linked with the Pacers. I think he would play very well with Paul George and David West. This will also allow the Pacers to bring Hill off the bench, a role that fits him much better.

Roy Hibbert had one of the strangest seasons of all time. I've never seen a player completely fall off the map like he did. I think both sides would like a fresh start, but I don't think they will be able to pull it off. It's going to be pretty difficult to convince a team to take on Hibbert's contract, especially since David Kahn is no longer a GM.
