LeBron James will enter NBA free agency after deciding to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Miami Heat. Let's take a look at the five most likely landing spots for James this offseason.

LeBron's love for his hometown of Akron, Ohio is no secret, nor is the fact that he regrets the manner in which he left the Cleveland Cavaliers' organization in 2010. With Kyrie Irving and the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, there are pieces already in place that — in addition to the personal reasons — make Cleveland an attractive destination for James.

James loves the big stage, and in the basketball world it's hard to get much bigger than the Los Angeles Lakers. Surrounding James with a quality roster wouldn't be an issue for the heavy-spending Lakers, and he'd get a chance to team up with Kobe Bryant for a few years.

3. Houston Rockets

If the Houston Rockets could manage to unload the contracts of Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik, they would be able to offer James by far the best immediate supporting cast of any other NBA team. The trio of LeBron, James Harden and Dwight Howard would be utterly impossible to contain on the offensive end of the floor, and James' elite perimeter defense could help mask some of Harden's notorious defensive shortcomings as well.

2. Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls don't have to make as many moves to free up space for LeBron as the Rockets do, which is the primary reason why they're ranked a spot ahead. Chicago offers a strong supporting cast for James as well as a conservative defensive scheme (especially compared to what the Miami Heat employ these days) that would be easier on LeBron as he ages.

Despite the opt out, the most probable landing spot for James is right back in Miami. LeBron has grown comfortable there, loves the city and is obviously well aware that winning championships is part of the organizational culture. Re-signing with the Heat would be far from a surprise.
