Several questions will be the facing the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night when the NBA Draft finally arrives. With the substantial number of trade rumors, constantly fluctuating mock drafts and injuries, nobody can truly predict the chaos that will occur. One thing is for certain though: the 2014 NBA Draft is going to be one heck of a night packed full of surprises. Here are a few of the latest rumors surrounding the Lakers heading in.

Teams like the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets will be looking to dump salaries if Carmelo Anthony appears to be a realistic option this summer. Since Los Angeles has plenty of cap space, they may look to acquire additional first-round draft picks by taking on the hefty expiring deals of Carlos Boozer, Omer Asik and/or Jeremy Lin. This would be a clever strategy in order to acquire some additional young talent.

Much like the aforementioned Rockets and Bulls, the Lakers will also be looking to rid themselves of the near $ 10 million salary of Steve Nash prior to free agency. Los Angeles wants to do this in hopes of uniting free agents Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James in the purple and gold alongside Kobe Bryant. Unrealistic? Yes. But hey, Nash's contract must go as soon as humanly possible.

Earlier this week, a report surfaced claiming that the Lakers may explore a deal which would bring Thaddeus Young and the No. 10 pick to Los Angeles in exchange for the No. 7 pick. At this point, the Philadelphia 76ers will explore every option possible to move up from that No. 10 slot, so expect talks to continue on through Thursday night between the two sides. A deal may be beneficial for both franchises.

After Lakers fans panicked at the thought of trading their one and only lottery pick, it appears as if the team will hang on to the pick after all. All signs are pointing to the Lakers selecting high in the lottery, but this does not rule out the possibility of moving up or down in the draft. We can basically rule out the idea of acquiring a Klay Thompson-type player without receiving additional picks in return.

Narrowing down Los Angeles' potential picks at No. 7, Noah Vonleh, Julius Randle and Marcus Smart appear to be the most realistic candidates. With that said, word is that the Lakers' officials would go with Vonleh if given the opportunity. He is believed to have the biggest upside out of all of the prospects despite having an unimpressive season at Indiana. Vonleh's size an offensive potential will make him a top-seven pick.
