It can’t hurt to have hopes and dreams in the world of sports. When it comes to NBA free agency in 2014, the Los Angeles Clippers might have the biggest hopes of any team in the league.

Rumor has it that the Clippers not only want to pursue Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James, but that they want to bring in both superstars via free agent deals. Not one.

In order to pull off this ridiculous feat, the Clippers would not only have to convince both stars to take their talents to Los Angeles, they’d also have to do some serious house cleaning. It’s thought that the Clips would need to move DeAndre Jordan, Jared Dudley, Matt Barnes, Jamal Crawford and J.J. Redick to make room. Aka — the core of their roster.

Blake Griffin is also reportedly untouchable when it comes to deals this offseason.

It’s tough to believe that this a real rumor. I just can’t see Doc Rivers wanting to blow up basically his entire team to acquire two stars. Sure, the Clippers might just be the favorites to win it all next season if they were able to pull off such ridiculous moves, but there’s also a solid chance they could take a step back with the loss of some many key players from last season’s team.

Above all else it’s tough to see James and Anthony teaming up. Not that they hate each other or anything of that nature, but they just don’t seem like they’d be a good 1-2 punch with their skill sets.

You can safely file this in the ‘NBA Rumors that will never pan out’ department.
