The Los Angeles Lakers have not been the best team in free agency the last couple seasons, but they have a unique opportunity to undo years of bad decision making with LeBron James currently on the market. The King is going to have plenty of options, and it would be pretty surprising to see him join forces with Kobe Bryant. The Black Mamba must swallow his pride, though, because he is no longer the best player in the world. He needs help.
If you think that the Black Mamba did not notice when Tim Duncan got a fifth ring, then I am not sure what kind of Kool-Aid you are sipping. Kobe noticed and will be aiming at a sixth ring next season, but I think he is too old now to get it done on his own.
Dwight Howard and Steve Nash both ended up being huge free agency mistakes, and signing the King would solve a lot of those errors. If the Lakers end up missing out on James, then Chris Bosh could be an interesting fit with Kobe. Of course, that is assuming that the Miami Heat completely fall apart this summer.
The future of the Lakers is a bit murky right now, because it is unclear who they are looking at in the draft. It should be fun to see what kind of trades happen in the next few days, but I think they will take Aaron Gordon with their first-round pick. As for all the trade rumors, it is truly LeBron's world and we are all just living in it.
The Lakers have to watch out, because it seems like the Los Angeles Clippers might make a run at LeBron as well. Chris Paul and James are great friends who respect each other's talent and moral character. CP3 is actually the Godfather to Bryce James, and it would be truly amazing to watch the two All-Stars on the same team.
It is a sad state of affairs when Jack Nicholson is leaving games early. It's just not right. Billy Crystal was kind enough to get Happy Jack a ticket to the Clippers' home game against the Lakers in the past season, but it is bizarre the way things have gone the last couple years. LeBron coming to Los Angeles would be a nice start towards making Nicholson a pleased customer once again.
