Carmelo Anthony, arguably one of the most coveted names on the market, is a favorite to land in Chicago. He has already stated that he has been researching the Windy City over the past few weeks, and is intrigued about the possibility of teaming up with Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and coach Tom Thibodeau.
Anthony recently made public his visitation schedule for multiple suitors over the next few days. He will be visiting with the Bulls on Tuesday in the first of four meetings with various teams. He will then travel to Texas on Wednesday to speak with the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets. The Los Angeles Lakers are also set to meet with Anthony some time this week.
In Tuesday’s visit with Anthony, the Bulls will need to assure their potential new addition of Rose’s current and projected health, and what the teams’ additional summer plans are if they were to sign Anthony. I would bet that Noah and Rose will be present when Anthony is meeting with the team, but Rose has said that he hasn’t and won’t be actively recruiting Anthony — at least not as much as Noah has been over the past year.
That’s been Rose’s stance since day one, so it’s no surprise that he hasn’t been recruiting. However, the opportunity to play with a former MVP (Rose), a Defensive Player of the Year (Noah), and a second-team All Defensive wing in Jimmy Butler may be too enticing for Anthony to pass up, regardless of the recruitment effort.
If the money works out, Anthony should be wearing a Bulls uniform next season.
