I have one question for you: Does anybody know what the “Big 3” of the Miami Heat are doing right now? Here is a better question for the three players in question: do you know what you are doing?
The reason I ask is because frankly, I am worried about the Heat. The Big 3’s meandering is not only giving me a migraine, it is also hamstringing Pat Riley from making key improvements to a roster that was only four games better than the ninth-place team in the Western Conference.
It seems like everybody in South Florida is waiting on everybody else to make a move. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh is waiting to see what LeBron James is going to do. James is waiting on Riley to see what moves he is going to make. And Riley is waiting on the Big 3 to make up their minds about their contract situation.
While these four are waiting around to see what move the other person is going to make, key free agents that could help the Heat now are slipping through their fingers. The biggest casualty so far has been Kyle Lowry, who decided to pass on the confusion in Miami to stay in a more stable situation with the Toronto Raptors.
Free agency can be a stressful time, I get that. But decisions need to be made now. The Heat’s dogged meandering is eroding Miami’s already damaged invincibility, and if the team cannot get their act together, we could see a new king in the East next season.
