The Houston Rockets have not struck gold in this year’s free agency. At least not yet. They have basically done the opposite. Chandler Parsons has reportedly reached an agreement with the Dallas Mavericks. Parsons will become a superstar in Dallas.

Parsons is not on Carmelo Anthony‘s level yet, but he certainly has the talent to get there. He may never be as good of a scorer as Anthony, but not many players in the NBA are. Parsons is, however, a more well-rounded player. This past season, he posted 16.6 points per game, 4.0 assists per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 37 percent from behind the arc. And, he managed to put up those great numbers while playing on the same team as Dwight Howard and James Harden.

It is important to note that the Rockets have time to match Dallas’ offer.

The best part about Parsons is the fact that he is only 25 and has yet to reach his prime.

Dallas was a playoff team this past season and you can bet that it will be a playoff team in the 2014-15 season. This time around, though, the Mavericks will be a much better team. Parsons is going to be a big reason for that.

Dirk Nowitzki taking a pay cut is really paying off for Dallas. Did the team land LeBron James, Pau Gasol or Melo? No, but Parsons is young, can do a number of different things and has superstar written all over him.

Parsons is coming off of a very good season, but that season is just the beginning. Watch out, NBA. Parsons is on the rise and the Mavericks are definitely title contenders.
