After meeting with Miami Heat owner Pat Riley on Wednesday, LeBron James was assumed to be headed for a meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the other serious contender to land his services this offseason. However, it appears he’s already made up his mind.
According to David Aldridge of NBA.com, James knows everything he needs to know to make his decision.
Per source, LeBron James has all the information he needs from teams & will take no more meetings. Will spend next day+ talking w/family.

James left his meeting with Riley with no agreement in place, which isn’t promising considering it was the Heat’s one big opportunity to woo one of the biggest free agents in NBA history. You would think if Riley had tabled an offer that James liked, he would have given the Heat a “yes,” especially since it has been said that the decision is solely his to make. However, after only mustering signings of Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger, the Heat’s gameplan might not have been enough for James.
Even though he won’t meet with the Cavaliers, who boast a new head coach and new GM, James’ former team appears to have the edge heading into Thursday. They made a big trade to clear enough cap space to sign James to a max contract, and have even tabled an offer to the Minnesota Timberwolves that would bring Kevin Love to Cleveland.
It appears we’ll have a final decision from James in the next day or two. Either way, the courting of the King seems to have come to an end. Now we wait for the announcement that is sure to have ripple effects throughout the league.
If I was a Cavaliers fan, I’d be feeling pretty good about the team’s chances to sign James right now.
