At long last, LeBron James has made his decision. The league's best player will return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, perhaps decreasing the size of the emotional chasm that had been created by his initial departure in 2010. Here are 5 reasons why James chose to sign with Cleveland.

Dwyane Wade is nowhere near the player he used to be, and with Chris Bosh drifting more and more towards the perimeter, the Miami Heat had become a one-man show. LeBron has made it clear for years that he doesn't want to be the sole reason his team wins basketball games; this was the reason he left Cleveland in the first place.

With Kyrie Irving and Andrew Wiggins already in the fold, the Cavaliers are in a better position to contend for a title than Miami is. Cleveland could also base a package around Wiggins in a trade for Kevin Love, further bolstering the team's chances to make it to the NBA Finals in a weak Eastern Conference.

James is an Irving fan, and he has made this known since the young guard's first season in the NBA. LeBron has never played with an elite point guard before; surely he was intrigued by the possibility of having two great facilitators on the floor at the same time.

2. Regret

LeBron botched his handling of 2010 free agency badly, and made an enemy out of most Cavaliers fans (and, most infamously, the team's owner). Returning to the organization was probably the only way to right the wrongs of the past, and don't think for a second that James wasn't aware of this.

James' real hometown of Akron is 30 miles from Cleveland, his basketball and NBA hometown. The opportunity to play for a championship with a much better supporting cast than he would have had in Miami is nice, but the fact that he gets to do it right at home must have cemented the decision for James.
