There is no denying that LeBron James returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers was one of the most monumental and influencing decisions not only in the history of the NBA, but in all of sports.

It also influenced another superstar that home was truly where the heart is. After all of the visits and pitches from other NBA teams in need of his services, Carmelo Anthony decided that being a New York Knick is something more than just playing basketball, it was about all of the fans, friends and family that he represents whenever he stepped onto the famed Madison Square Garden floor.

And because of that reason, he decided to keep his scoring prowess in New York, and trusting in Phil Jackson’s ability to rebuild a contending team around him. The Knicks are really not as far off as people think. With LeBron taking his superhuman powers back to Cleveland, the Miami Heat‘s reign on the Eastern Conference is officially over, and the East is now wide open for the taking.

Carmelo saw this, and with Jackson promising him that he will do whatever it takes to restock the roster, Anthony now believes that his Knicks can get right back into the thick of things in the East. It was not only about the money, it was about making the Knicks the team in New York again, and now may be the perfect time to make their run before Cleveland regains the title as the team to beat in the East.

LeBron showed us that it is OK to go back home again. Carmelo got the message, and now, happy times are here again in the Big Apple.
