Will they or won’t they? That’s the question when it comes to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the possible dealing of Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love. It’s a question that’s been asked for a couple of weeks now, even though at one point it seemed the Wiggins trade rumors were dead.
According to The Morning Journal the Cavs have changed their minds, possibly because of LeBron James‘ influence. The No. 1 overall pick is apparently back on the trade block as part of a package to acquire Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The rest of the package would reportedly include: Anthony Bennett, a first-round pick and possibly center Brendan Haywood.
The main question — is it worth it for Cleveland to trade away the last two No. 1 overall picks for a guy who could walk away next offseason?
Only because James is back in town, the answer is yes. It’s worth it because LeBron could surely influence Love to stay long-term. Winning a few ballgames and making the playoffs for the first time in his career probably won’t hurt Love’s chances of re-signing with the Cavs either.
I think I speak for most basketball fans when I say — someone please make a deal for Love, and soon.
The speculation about the PF’s future has gone on for long enough, and it seems like the Cavs are the most realistic team for him in 2014-15. The Golden State Warriors are reportedly unwilling to part with Klay Thompson, and the Boston Celtics are stuck somewhere between buyers and sellers at this point.
Wiggins and company for Love. Do it.
