Dallas Mavericks May Be The Dark Horse In The West Next Season
What a difference an offseason makes. When the Dallas Mavericks got knocked out in the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs by the eventual champion and hated rival, the San Antonio Spurs, the Mavericks were a good playoff team that needed to add some pieces to really compete with the big dogs.
Well, Mark Cuban has stepped up to the challenge, and as a result, his Mavericks transformed from a playoff team to one that, if all of the dominoes fall into place, could become a dark horse favorite to get back to the NBA Finals.
Think about it: New addition Chandler Parsons is the perfect guy who can spread the floor with his shooting and take the ball handling pressure off Monta Ellis, who himself regained his All-Star status after a sensational first year in Big D. Tyson Chandler is head over heels an improvement over Samuel Dalembert and is a perfect fit in Rick Carlisle‘s system. Raymond Felton will provide great backup minutes to Devin Harris, who earned the right to be the starting point guard with his fantastic play in the playoffs.
Add all of that up to a new and refreshed Dirk Nowitzki, and you have all of the makings of a team that has the personnel to bring home a second NBA title next season. Don’t make the mistake of writing off the Mavs.
