The Los Angeles Lakers‘ decision to bring Xavier Henry back on a minimum deal was arguably their best move of the offseason. Henry was part of an exciting bench at the beginning of last season, before injuries affected the majority of the lineup. He brings versatility to the table and should build on what can be considered a breakout year for him last season. He may not be the star player they were looking for, but he will certainly be an important role player going forward.

Henry gives the team needed athleticism on the perimeter. He can play shooting guard or small forward, and is very aggressive at attacking the basket. He had one of the top dunks last season, showing his explosiveness and ability to make a momentum-swinging play. He has improved his outside shot, and should fit well with the veterans on the team.

The fact that the Lakers got him for an inexpensive price is the best part of the deal. He struggled with injuries last season, but is well worth the risk. He has a lot to prove that he belongs in the league, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He was one of the more exciting players on the team, starting the year off with a great game against the Los Angeles Clippers. He showed that he has the ability to be a key player, but needs to stay healthy in order to show his worth.

The Lakers did an excellent job of bringing back Henry for another season. He is still extremely young, and has a lot of potential. He gives the team more speed and quickness on the wing, which will prove beneficial when on the court with the aging veterans. He will help turn the Lakers’ bench into a strength, and will surely produce some more highlight-worthy plays to keep the organization excited.
