The Dallas Mavericks may have stumbled onto a diamond in the rough with rookie Yuki Togashi. He made some noise in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and set the internet on fire. Only time will tell if the Mavs will continue to pursue the talents of Togashi. Even though there are many doubts about the unknown guard, here are five reasons he is sure to make it in the NBA.

There are not many small guys that make it in the NBA, but the ones that do make it have something in common, they know how to use their height (or lack thereof) to their advantage. Togashi not only uses his small stature to make his opponents look silly, it's almost as if he's prefers to be short.

Players in Togashi's position (literally and positionally) are able to knock down the open shot. The smaller greats of the game like Earl Boykins, Nate Robinson, J.J. Barea and others could catch and shot or knock down the pull-up jumper in transition. Togashi can do both with ease and he'll follow the path of those that came before him.

Togashi would be only the third player of Japanese decent to play in the NBA. And the chance to play for a team that can play for a championship is just another motivating factors for the young man to succeed. Carpe Diem.

When the unexpected takeover of Jeremy Lin happened, "Linsanity" swept the nation. Togashi or "Toga" as fans refer to him, can be just as big or even bigger on the court and in business. With an owner like Mark Cuban, there is money to be made from Togashi's name and game.

By looking at him or his summer league games, you might make a snap judgment you could regret. In his first year of professional basketball in Japan, Togashi led his team with 15.6 points and 7.9 assists per game and received All-Star MVP honors for the Akita Northern Happinets. This might not sound like much, but NBA star Brandon Jennings only averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 assists per contest in his Euro stint.
