The Dallas Mavericks probably would have loved to land a player like LeBron James this offseason, but that clearly did not happen. They still did pick up some talent, though, like Chandler Parsons. With that said, the team is reportedly going after Jameer Nelson, who would be a good addition to an already good team.
ESPN sources say Mavs on track to complete the signing of Jameer Nelson when the veteran PG makes his scheduled visit to Dallas on Thursday

Nelson has never been considered an elite point guard in the NBA, but he is a solid veteran who could provide some scoring for Dallas. He is averaging a respectable 12.6 points per game for his career, and his 5.4 assists per game is not too bad. Not amazing either.
Who knows what is going to happen with Raymond Felton, but Dallas clearly has a backup plan now. Nelson has started a boat load of games for the Magic, so becoming the starter for the Mavericks is not completely out of the question, even if Felton does work out with the team. The team also has Devin Harris, so the Mavericks definitely have some options at PG.
Dallas is set for the upcoming season. It brings back its best player in Dirk Nowitzki and also adds players like Chandler Parsons to the team, who could make it a contender. The Mavericks already made the playoffs this past year, so you would think they would do the same in the 2014 season with added talent to the team. Overall, Nowitzki, and Dallas fans, should be happy with the additions the team has made this summer.
