It’s official. After weeks of speculation regarding what number LeBron James would wear after leaving the Miami Heat to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the King has chosen to bring back No. 23. It was the number he originally wore when he spent his first seven NBA seasons with the Cavaliers before switching to No. 6 upon signing with the Heat.
James made the announcement via Twitter:
23 it is! It’s only right I go back. 2·3=6 We still family 6. #HomeTeam #StriveForGreatness http://t.co/2MpznC8JNM

The move makes plenty of sense for James, who is attempting to make a triumphant return to his hometown team. Now Cavaliers fans who didn’t burn their jerseys after he departed from Cleveland won’t have to buy new jerseys. And those who did will be rushing to their nearest sporting goods stores to buy a new one.
