The Cleveland Cavaliers are back in the spotlight. LeBron James retuning home has a lot to do with that. Andrew Wiggins getting drafted No. 1 overall had some to do with that as well. Things couldn’t get much better for the Cavs at this point. Well, that isn’t exactly true. The team could land superstar Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
According to ESPN.com, the Cavs are basically the only team that has a chance at landing Love, or they were at least described “as the only team in contention for Love.” On Wednesday, the Timberwolves were talking to Cleveland and Cleveland only.
You would think Minnesota would be more willing to trade with the Chicago Bulls since they would be giving up a lot for Love’s services.
At the same time, landing Anthony Bennett, who seems like he will finally meet expectations in the upcoming season, is pretty appealing. Landing Wiggins in that same deal would also be very beneficial as he is one of the most talented players we have seen in quite some time. Add in a draft pick and you have a very appealing offer for Love.
No matter what happens with this trade, Cleveland is set for the future. Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and Andrew Wiggins would make up quite the trio. Throw Bennett in there if you would like. If the Cavs parted ways with some of their players, they would have Love, LeBron and Irving, which would make up the best trio in the league. After all, Irving is probably considered as an elite point guard by some and Love and LeBron are two of the top scorers in the league.
All we can do now is just sit back and wait for this deal to actually happen because at this point it seems inevitable.
