The main purpose for Dwyane Wade to travel to Las Vegas earlier this summer was to help out with friend LeBron James’ basketball camp. However, the trip also served as a second purpose for Wade to pick James’ brain and figure out if the superstar would be returning to the Miami Heat. Even though James had yet to say he would be signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers in free agency, Wade says that he knew deep down James would be leaving to return home.

“Yeah, I went to sleep knowing,” Wade said, according to Sports Illustrated. “He called me the next day, but I knew then. Obviously he still had to say the final yay or nay, but I knew. I could tell.”

Wade and James have been good friends for a long time. Over the past four years, they have become a part of each other’s family. Despite James leaving to play for another team, their relationship will never change. The closeness also explains how Wade was able to tell on the flight from Vegas that James would not be returning even without him saying a word about it.

The rest of the personnel in the Heat organization (president Pat Riley, coaches, players) may have been surprised about the decision James made. In fact, several of them are probably not too happy about it. We all know how the Heat fans reacted when the news broke. Even though Wade may be a little disappointed that he will not be able to play with James next season, there are still no hard feelings. He just wants James to be happy and he knows that will only be possible if the superstar plays in Cleveland going forward.
