Jeremy Lin -- aka Linsanity -- made a name for himself in February of 2012 when he led the New York Knicks on a crazy winning streak. He came up through the D-League and fought his way to the Knicks' roster, and was rewarded with a 28.8 million, four-year deal with the Houston Rockets in the offseason. Lin, now with the Lakers, is still a solid point guard, but he's not yet great and he needs to work even more to get to that level.

The knock on Lin is that he is hard to rely on. He could have a great game and drop 30 points and seven assists but then the next game he is no where to be found. Lin needs to play at a steady rate during the season and not try and be the hero. He just needs to play his role and he will get some consistent numbers.

In the last three seasons, Lin's assist numbers have been 6.2, 6.1 and 4.1. It's not good that his numbers are trending in a downward direction; they should be going up and his points per game should dip from about 13 to 10 just so he could focus on passing. He doesn't need to be a scorer with the Lakers, he needs to be a facilitator and help his teammates find open shots.

Lin has averaged 3.6 turnovers a game when he was on the Knicks, and that number has gone down to 2.5 with the Rockets. It's encouraging to see that he is focused on limiting mistakes and keeping possessions alive on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, he is averaging about one steal a game, but he should work on getting that number up. It's hard for someone his size to play defense, but he has room for improvement there.

2. Bulk Up and Use His Speed

Even though he is 6-foot-3, Lin still plays like he is a small PG. He's not built and strong, but he is quick and he should use that to his advantage. He is very good off the dribble and getting to the lane, so he should focus on doing that more often. It help out Lin if he hit the weight room and gained some more muscle because NBA players today are strong and quick, not just quick.

With Kobe Bryant, Julius Randle and Carlos Boozer on the Lakers, Lin doesn't need to do a lot in order for his team to win. The Lakers have a solid roster and Lin just needs to play his role and make sure his teammates are getting good looks. Lin should learn from Steve Nash and always look to pass first then shoot. If Lin could do that then I think he will fit in well with his new team.
