Despite being without guard Derrick Rose again, this time for most of the season and not quite the entire season, the Chicago Bulls won 48 games last regular season before losing to the Washington Wizards in the opening round of the playoffs.

The pieces are in place for the Bulls to make the playoffs again next season, but here are five reasons they can be the league's best team.

Thibodeau is one of the NBA's best coaches, and he has routinely gotten the most out of rosters that on the surface don't compete talent-wise.

Chicago allowed a league-low 91.8 points per game last season, and they ranked behind only the Indiana Pacers in opponent's field goal percentage (43 percent). The Windy City will surely be home to one of the best defensive teams in the league once again next season.

3. Derrick Rose's Return

Reports out of Team USA's practices heading into the FIBA World Cup suggest Rose is healthy, which is obviously a huge key since he's played just 10 games over the last two seasons. If he can get close to his previous form, and most importantly stay healthy, the Bulls will have a difference-making offensive player back in the fold.

2. Offseason Additions

The Bulls averaged a league-low 93.7 points per game last season, but the additions that have been made-Pau Gasol and Aaron Brooks in free agency, Doug McDermott in the draft and the arrival of Nikola Mirotic from Europe-will surely help open things up a bit.

The Bulls will not wind up getting Kevin Love in a trade, but they also did not have to deplete their roster to get him. The aforementioned additions give Chicago one of the deepest rosters in the league.
