The Milwaukee Bucks have had an offseason full of intrigue. It has certainly been more memorable than the roster they trotted out last year in order to grab as many ping-pong balls as possible, but maybe that is unfair criticism. Jabari Parker looks like a superstar in waiting to me, and the Bucks should have a shot at the playoffs next season as a result. These are their five highest priorities as we enter the latter part of the summer.
Jabari Parker is now the marquee player in Milwaukee. We all know that, and they should keep him on the team for as long as possible. If the young forward enjoys working with newly minted head coach Jason Kidd, then we could see him play out his career for the franchise that is so close to Chicago.
Can they turn Parker into a Milwaukee version of Michael Jordan? We will see. They would love to be able to make a lot of money during Parker's turn with the team, and a "Witness"-like billboard somewhere near the stadium might be in order. That would be a good start.
Kareem Adbul-Jabbar wanted to coach this team, but that ship sailed once Jason Kidd hopped aboard. They could still bring back Adbul-Jabbar as a big man consultant, and it certainly would aid the development of a player like John Henson (featured on the next slide).
Call me crazy if you want, but I think the Bucks could make a run at a playoff spot next season. They should size up the Eastern Conference in the early going, and if things are wide open they should try striking a trade to grab another star-caliber player just to see how far they can take things.
Jason Kidd needs to know he is in the team's long-term plans, or he will be looking for the quickest way out of the back door. If you don't believe me, just look at the way things ended with his last employer.
