The 2014-15 NBA season will bring with it a number of changes to the league. One of the more exciting changes is the return of the Hornets brand to the city of Charlotte. Along with the Hornets name coming back home, though, this team should also have a legitimate shot at competing in the Eastern Conference. With the recent release of the NBA schedule, these are the five games the Hornets should circle on the calendar.

As the Hornets attempt to reach the top of the East, they’re obviously going to have to do well against the better teams in the conference. Their first matchup with a potential playoff-team in the East is in the Garden against the Knicks, which also serves as Charlotte trying to stifle Carmelo Anthony from dropping 61 points on them again.

4. Vs. Milwaukee Bucks (10/29/2014)

Though the Bucks aren’t exactly the most formidable opponent in the NBA, this is the Hornets’ season-opener and it also happens to be the return of the teal and purple to Charlotte. Considering the history of this league, that’s a big moment that’s worth remembering.

3. At Toronto Raptors (04/15/2015)

The Raptors are more than likely going to be competing for a spot in the postseason in the East this year. As the Hornets travel to Toronto for the final game of their season, playoff positioning could very well be at stake and set the tone for Charlotte heading into the postseason.

2. At Cleveland Cavaliers (12/15/2014)

As things start to settle into form after the first month in the season, we’ll have a relatively good idea of how good of a team the Hornets are. Their biggest test of that will be in mid-December when they take on the heavily favored Cavs in Cleveland.

1. At Indiana Pacers (11/19/2014)

There’s a likely chance that the Pacers aren’t going to be the best of basketball teams this season after the Paul George injury. However, this game is going to be a fun watch to see Lance Stephenson return to Indiana and face is former team. Knowing Stephenson, antics will surely ensue.
