The Cleveland Cavaliers are clearly in win-now mode, and the recent addition of Shawn Marion is just another key piece to their overhauled roster. Marion has put money aside to pursue another ring, but at 36, what does he bring to the table for the Cavaliers? I have a few ideas.

The Cavaliers' bench has gained strength with the addition of Marion, and as the San Antonio Spurs reminded us in dominating fashion last year, there is much strength in valuable numbers. The Cavs' bench was already boosted with the additions of Mike Miller and James Jones, who are both deadly beyond the arc, but Marion will add 3-point shooting and then some as he comes off a 10.4 PPG and 6.5 RPG season with the Mavericks.

In the fourth quarter of a competitive postseason game, who are you going to trust on the defensive end of the floor in crunch time? A young kid like Dion Waiters, or a seasoned vet like Shawn Marion? While he may not be the "Matrix" as he was once called, Marion is still a stout defender. He's not afraid to guard anybody, so he shares LeBron-like traits on the defensive end.

"Swiss Army Knife" might be a more appropriate nickname for Shawn Marion because he really is a multipurpose player. He can defend any position, but his versatility extends to the offensive end as well. Marion doesn't have a handle like Chris Paul, but he's definitely not a liability on offense with the ball either. He can also score in a variety of ways, whether he's banging down low or knocking down outside shots.

When LeBron James needs a breather, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be more than happy to bring in Shawn Marion to relieve him. Mike Miller was going to be behind James in the depth chart, but Marion is a better fit for the job. Marion can also provide defensive cover for James when they're on the floor at the same time by guarding the better player at times. This will keep James' defensive workload lower and total output higher.

Shawn Marion was a key member on the Mavericks' 2011 NBA championship team that thwarted the Miami Heat's first-year championship hopes. It's great to be loaded with young talent, but if the objective is to win, then what can be better than adding veteran players who know what it takes? With Marion on board, the Cavs now have five players on their roster who have been to the NBA Finals.
