As the 2014-15 NBA regular season approaches, the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs have a roster spot open. Although the team has brought back an almost identical roster to last season, here are five options the Spurs may consider adding to an already dominant team.

The Spurs have yet to re-sign C Aron Baynes, and Emeka Okafor is a big man who could fill that vacancy quite nicely. While Okafor has never been a marquee player in the league, the Spurs wouldn't need him to be. Okafor could give more meaningful minutes than Baynes did last year, giving important rest to other Spurs big men.

If the Spurs want a big man, Kenyon Martin may be the best option as he is a bit more versatile than other big men available in free agency. Especially on the defensive end, Martin would provide energy to a team that is very low-key in the way it plays. Martin's spark could help the second unit put games out of reach throughout the season without playing too many minutes.

3. Andray Blatche

Possibly the most skilled player left in free agency, Andray Blatche has the tools to really improve San Antonio, which is a scary thought. While the Spurs probably are not willing nor able to compensate Blatche to his liking, if they could convince him to take a pay cut the Spurs could become a dangerous team with equal strength in the front and backcourts.

Seeing Chauncey Billups on the Spurs' side would be a nice change for the defending champs. With Patty Mills out, the Spurs may want more than Cory Joseph or Kyle Anderson to back up Tony Parker. Billups is at the end of his career and wants another championship. San Antonio could get Billups if he's willing to take little money. The Spurs should hurry up if they want Billups and grab him before Cleveland gets him.

1. Elton Brand

Another big man to fill in for Baynes, Brand could do so much more than Baynes has for San Antonio. Brand is a veteran who knows how to play. Most free agents may take a little time adjusting to the system, but Brand is coming off a season in Atlanta under Mike Budenholzer, a long-time assistant under Gregg Popovich, and implemented a similar system with the Hawks. Brand's knowledge of that system practically makes him a Spur already.
