Creating The Indiana Pacers All-Time Starting Lineup

The Indiana Pacers have been in the NBA since 1976; they haven't won a title, but they have been in contention a few times, also making it to the finals. The Pacers have had several top talents grace their team. Here is their all-time starting lineup.

Mark Jackson was acquired by the Pacers in 1994, but they traded him for Jalen Rose two years later. Rose was a fruitful addition to the team, but the decision proved quite costly. The Pacers re-traded for Jackson in 1997; upon his return, he led them to three conference finals and one NBA finals. Such was the value of Jackson to the Indiana Pacers -- he was always good for an assist and made his teammates better.

Reggie Miller may have put the Pacers on the map, as he is the best Pacer of all time. The Hall of Famer spent all of his 18 seasons with Indiana, taking them to new heights. His ability to move without the ball was second to none. He is responsible the phrase "miller time" and the league has only seen one better shooter of the three ball (Ray Allen). Miller led by example and was a class act. It's a pity he never won a ring.

The forward just outs Jalen Rose off the list. Danny Granger spent nine seasons with the Pacers; he eventually made the small forward position his own, and in 2007-08, he led the team in scoring for the first time. He was the league's most improved player during the 2008-09 season, and up until that year, he had brought his scoring average up by five points every year for three years (7.5, 13.9, 19.6, 25.8). He is the only player ever to do so.

He came to Indiana during a very bleak period. The Pacers had traded Dale Davis to the Portland Trailblazers to get an unproven Jermaine O'Neal, but that did not sit well with the fans -- they never thought that he would turn out to be an NBA superstar. During his eight year stint with the Pacers, O'Neal made the ALL-NBA team three times and was voted an all-star six times. He was also the league's Most Improved Player in the 2001-02 season.

"The Dunking Dutchman," as he was known, spent his entire career with the Pacers. He was their presence in the middle for 12 seasons. He was plagued by foot problems but still enjoyed a great career; Rik Smits averaged 14.8 points per game as No. 2 to Reggie Miller. The 7-foot-4 center was known for his low post battles, his ability to hit the mid-range jumper, and his sweet semi-hook shots. He will always be fondly remembered in Indiana.
