The Los Angeles Lakers have had many great players in franchise history, and while the center position has been filled with Hall-of-Famers, the point guard position has also featured many great Lakers. Although there are more than five great Lakers point guards, these five were able to win championships and cemented themselves as Lakers legends in the process.

The point guard on each of the Lakers' five championship teams in the 2000s, Derek Fisher came through when it mattered most. His best moment came when he hit a shot with 0.4 seconds to go against San Antonio in 2004.

Slater Martin was famous for his aggressive defense and outstanding playmaking ability. He is considered one of the best NBA defenders of the 1950s and helped the Minneapolis Lakers to multiple championships during that stretch. Playing alongside George Mikan, the Lakers went on to win four NBA championships from 1950-54.

The Los Angeles Lakers originally selected Gail Goodrich in the 1965 NBA draft, but he was eventually lost in the expansion draft to the Phoenix Suns after three seasons. In 1970, Goodrich was traded back to the Lakers and became a superb point guard. For his career, Goodrich was a five-time All-Star (four with the Lakers) and was an All-NBA selection in 1973-74. Goodrich is ranked eighth in team history in assists and points scored.

During Jerry West's 14-year playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers, he became the third player in NBA history to score 25,000 career points. Jerry West was an All-Star every single year of his career, and he led the Lakers to the NBA Finals nine times, winning once in 1972. He finished his career averaging 27 PPG, 6.7 APG and 5.8 RPG on nearly 48 percent shooting. West was also an excellent off-guard.

Magic Johnson is not just one of the greatest Lakers ever, he is undoubtedly the greatest point guard of all time. During his 13-year NBA career with the Lakers, Johnson won the MVP and Finals MVP award three times each while winning five NBA championships. Johnson was a 12-time NBA All-Star and a nine-time member of the All-NBA First Team. Johnson currently ranks fifth all-time in career assists with 10,141.
