Detroit Pistons: Top 5 Point Guards In Team History

They were the "Bad Boys" of the '80s and mid '90s, and they controlled the "No Fly Zone" in the early 2000s. During their best days, the Detroit Pistons always tried to dominate their opponents by instilling fear in them, so it should come as no surprise that their best point guards were some pretty tough dudes. Lets see who they are.

After two stints with the Detroit Pistons and a championship ring in 2004, Lindsey Hunter has earned the right to make it onto this all-time list. Hunter came up big with his stellar perimeter defense in the Pistons' destruction of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals. Ironically, he won a ring with the Lakers one year before he re-joined the Pistons, so I guess you can say that he was Detroit's ultimate double agent.

Like Lindsey Hunter, Kevin Porter also had two stints with the Pistons, but Porter's length of terms were much shorter. Porter only played four seasons with the Pistons, but he made them count. As a tough-minded pass first PG, Porter led the league in assists twice with Detroit, and he holds the Pistons' record for APG (10.1). He also held the NBA record for assists in a game (29) until Scott Skiles tallied 30 assists in a game in 1990.

3. Dave Bing

Dave Bing was an absolute stud because he could do it all. Bing averaged 20.3 PPG and 6.3 AST for his career, and he hit the ground running by picking up the Rookie of Year Award in the 1966-67 season. In his sophomore season, Bing won the scoring title with 27.1 PPG, and he went on to appear in six All-Star games as a Pistons. Bing never won a title, but his tough, explosive offensive game landed him in the top three on this list.

Mr. Big Shot never feared the moment, and this was seen time and time again as he continued to drain clutch shots for the 2000s Pistons. Chauncey Billups' name rose to meteoric fame in 2004 when he led the Pistons to an NBA title over the Lakers' dreaded tandem of Shaq and Kobe. Billups won the NBA Finals MVP Award for his accomplishments, and very few players were as durable and consistent as Billups during his reign.

As the undisputed best PG in the history of the Detroit Pistons, Isaiah Thomas could easily challenge for the title of the greatest Pistons player ever. Thomas was about as tough as they get, and he led the "Bad Boys" to two titles during his 13-year career as a life-long Piston. Thomas' Pistons roughed up Michael Jordan's Bulls because his teammates adopted his beat 'em up play-style. He may speak softly, but he definitely carried a big stick.

Pistons' Andre Drummond Hits Floor After Being Rejected By Rim

Andre Drummond did his best Carmelo Anthony impression against the New York Knicks on Saturday night. Drummond went up for a massive dunk and was hilariously rejected by the rim. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, he ended up flat on his butt on the Madison Square Garden hardwood.

Watch Andre Drummond's Heave From Opposite Foul Line

Andre Drummond's ineptitude at the free-throw line is well documented, but he appeared to have little trouble measuring a three-quarter court heave on Monday night.
