The Atlanta Hawks are one of the oldest franchises in the history of the NBA. The organization has been around for 65 years and has called four cities home. The Hawks are now under their 28th head coach Mike Budenholzer whom one day hopes to be on this prestigious list of all-time Hawks coaches.

Harry Gallatin was head coach of the St. Louis Hawks from 1962 to 1964. Though his tenure was not as lengthy as many hoped, he was able to set the Hawks on a great path. He was named the NBA Coach of the Year for the 1962-63 season. Gallatin also won over 57 percent of the games he coached during his tenure which is the highest winning percentage of any Hawks coach of at least two full seasons.

Alex Hannum coached the St. Louis Hawks for only one season, but that year is still the most important in the Hawks' long history. Hannum was able to lead the 1957-58 team to the NBA Championship, and they took home the title. Hannum went on to coach many teams and won another title with the Philadelphia 76ers and Wilt Chamberlain in the 1966-67 season. He was eventually elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998.

Richie Guerin coached for the longest period in Hawks history. He started as a player-coach and was the dual-man for 372 games which is the longest tenure in NBA history. He was named coach of the year for the 1967-68 season and would be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. He had a 353-325 record with the Hawks over the course of eight seasons.

Mike Fratello was head coach of the Atlanta Hawks from 1983-90. He tallied a record of 342-272 in that time and was named the 1985-86 NBA Coach of the Year. He led the Hawks to the postseason five times in seven years and won the central division title in 1987. Fratello ranks 19th on the NBA all-time wins list as a head coach.

Lenny Wilkins was head coach of the Atlanta Hawks from 1993-2000. He had a 327-262 record during his tenure. He was named coach of the year during the 1993-94 season. Wilkins also coached in the All-star games four times and led Team USA to a Gold medal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He garnished over 1,000 wins in his career and was named one of the top 10 coaches of all time. He was also elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
