The New York Knicks have an impressive list of point guards that have graced the "Garden" with their talents. A few years ago, Linsanity had the basketball world in awe as PG Jeremy Lin looked to be the next great thing in New York. Unfortunately, Lin's brief success was just a lesson that proved that most things are over-hyped in the Big Apple. In regards to Knicks PGs, how many of them are worthy enough to be considered among the top five?

"Starbury" failed to live up to the NYC hype as a Knick, but he was definitely entertaining. In his five seasons with the Knicks, Stephon Marbury averaged spectacular numbers with 18.2 PPG and 7.0 APG. However, he made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Marbury often got into disputes with his coaches, and it was rumored that he and head coach Isiah Thomas almost came to blows.

Even though he played at the two for the New York Knicks, Earl Monroe also displayed his ability to run the point guard position. Monroe played as a PG for the Baltimore Bullets before he was traded to the Knicks in 1971, so people wondered how he would fit with Walt Frazier in the backcourt. In 1973, the pair led the Knicks to championship glory, and the two-time All-Star Monroe silenced all the doubters.

Richardson was billed as the next Walt Frazier, and he was drafted two picks ahead of Larry Bird in the 1978 NBA Draft. By his second season, Richardson led the league in assists and steals, and he still holds the club record for SPG (2.6). However, His battle with drugs and alcohol ended his career on a low note, and he was thrown out of the league for repeated violations, even after being reinstated in 1988.

As a 19-year NBA veteran, Mark Jackson had his longest tenure with the Knicks (seven years). Jackson was known for his bulldog mentality and his incredible passing ability. He averaged a franchise-high 8.0 APG, and he played with a Knicks team that had HOF center Patrick Ewing, who made them contenders every year. Unfortunately, Jordan's Bulls always got the better of the Knicks, but Jackson made his mark.

Before there was a Clyde Drexler, there was Walt "Clyde" Frazier, and he made the name Clyde sound so cool. Maybe it was his elaborate fashion sense or his perfectly combed afro, but one thing's for sure: Clyde's silky-smooth style matched his smooth game. Frazier led the Knicks to championships in 1970 and 1973, and he probably played in the greatest era in Knicks history. He's the No. 1 PG in Knicks history, hands-down.
